There may be times when we are in a burn ban. The term, "Burn ban," may sound bad, but it has very little impact on The Outpost -- burn bans are almost completely focused on the outside burning of trash and brush debris.

In more detail, a Texas burn ban is a temporary, county-level order prohibiting most outdoor burning due to dry conditions and high wildfire risk, enacted by a County Judge or Commissioners Court, generally banning trash fires, bonfires, and brush burning, but often allowing contained cooking in grills/pits, ceremonial fires, and "hot work" (welding/cutting) with safety precautions. Burn bans typically stay in effect for 90 days, unless extended. Violating a burn ban is a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by fines up to $500, plus potential civil penalties.

Here are the rules during a burn ban. Please call us at: 832-375-5411, if you have any questions:

Do’s:

1.  You must have someone present at all times during active flames / burning.

2.  You may use the indoor fireplace as needed.

3.  You may use the Chiminea on the back porch as needed. 

4.  You may use the charcoal grill in the picnic area as needed. Please may sure you close the lid. The cleaning crews will clean the grill.

5.  You may use the propane grill at the barn, or the one on the back porch. The cleaning crews will clean the grills.

6.  You may use the outdoor firepit to cook hot dogs, S’mores, etc., provided you use no more than 3 logs. The ember screen must always be on. Slide the cooking forks under the ember screen to cook. Do not throw burnt logs, ash, or coals over the fence -- use the ash bucket if needed. The cleaning crews will clean the firepit.

Don’ts:

1.      You may not burn anything outside a designated area.

2.      No bonfires.

3. 

4.      Do not flick cigarettes or cigar butts over the fence.

5.      Never set off any type of firework.

 Never burn anything outside during a Red Flag Warning or during high winds, including smoking. Red Flag Warnings are for high winds (25 mph+) and are usually in effect for 24 - 48 hours. The winds need to occur for at least 3 hours in a 12-hour period.
